The large monkey frog or kambó frog (Phyllomedusa bicolor) is a species of anuran amphibian of the Phyllomedusidae family that lives in the Amazon basin: northern Bolivia, western and northern Brazil, southeastern Colombia, eastern Peru, southern and eastern from Venezuela. It is a nocturnal animal and very arboreal. The males measure between 91 and 103 mm and the females are somewhat larger, from 111 to 119 mm.
Like many amphibians, it produces a toxic secretion that serves as a defense against predators. This secretion, which contains opioid agonists called deltorphine and dermorphine, has been used by peoples such as the Matsés as part of a propitiatory ritual before going hunting.
