The rock tortoise or pancake tortoise (Malacochersus tornieri) is a species of flat-shelled tortoise of the Testudinidae family native to Tanzania and Kenya. Its distribution may extend to Zambia according to Chansa and Wagner (2006). Its name derives from the flat shape of its shell and it is the only member of the genus Malacochersus.
