The leopard tortoise (Stigmochelys pardalis) is a species of cryptodira tortoise in the family Testudinidae and the only member of the genus Stigmochelys. Large in size, it lives in the savannah of Africa, from Sudan to South Africa. This chelonian is a grass tortoise that lives in semi-arid areas, in grasslands, although some leopard tortoises have been found in the rainier areas.
